New Works Competition and Exhibition
The Japan Folk Crafts Museum (Nihon Mingeikan) has held the New Works Competition and Exhibition annually. In this exhibition, both craftspeople and craft shops whose standards are based on the philosophy of mingei are invited to submit their works. The exhibition aims to encourage craftspeople and craft shops to produce or deliver useful and beautiful craftworks for ordinary people’s daily use. ‘Craftworks produced in quantity and useful in daily life’ is standard of entries. Ceramics, woven and dyed textiles, wood and lacquer works, bamboo works and many other works are strictly judged in the competition.
Prizewinning works are available for purchase during this exhibition.
